Ever Chaina de Chachapoyas nos trajo varias orquídeas peruanas dignas de ser resaltadas pero la que destacó entre el grupo fue este hermoso Odontoglossum que rápidamente atrajo la atención de los jueces. Tuvimos serios problemas para identificar la especie pero con el apoyo del biólogo Ricardo Fernández finalmente se develó el misterio: era un Odontoglossum astranthum Linden & Rchb.f. 1867 registrado para Perú y Ecuador como una planta epifita que se desarrolla entre los 2000 y los 2500 metros de altura en bosques montanos.

ENGLISH: Ever Chaina from Chachapoyas (Amazonas Department) brought several important Peruvian species but among them all this beautiful Odontoglossum immediately caught the eye of the AOS judges. We had serious troubles identifying the species but with the help of biologist Ricardo Fernández the mystery was finally solved: it was Odontoglossum astranthum Linden & Rchb.f. 1867 registered for Peru and Ecuador and an epiphyte growing at altitudes between 2000 and 2500 above the sea level in mountainous forests.
